New life…!

There is no more lovely, friendly and charming relationship, communion or company than a good marriage. ~ Martin Luther ~

I weds A

I weds A

A completely new life started for me on Wednesday 20th April when I signed Nikkahnama and started to realize that life isn’t the same at all.. the very next moment I started feeling more responsible.. more careful.. more respectful.. and what not :) ?

Your heart starts beating for someone who is going to be yours forever and ever.., going to be there when you need and even when you don’t ;) , someone who is going to be your best friend, supporter, motivator, companion.. inshort soul mate :)

Mom has always been worried for me, yeah I know every mom gets worried if its a boy or a girl.. but in my case mom was extra worried.. since I have this cute disorder with me [Thalassemia] ;) . She had this fear that I may stay single through out the life. After Salman she was more cautious for me.. got more worried that what will happen to me if God forbid she dies.. *moun mein khaak*

To be very frank watching friends/cousins getting engaged/married even when they are younger than me, made me worried too.. but then I couldn’t show it to mom :) so these were the words I use to say to calm her and my innerself.. “maa, aap ki soch aik maa ki hai.. WOH 70 maa’on ke barabar mere liye soch raha hai.. bus thora sa intezar karna hai.. [Mom, you think like one mother.. but HE is thinking for me like 70 mothers.. we just have to wait]

Sometimes it does help.. but since we don’t have patience.. mom was used to get tensed.. and all of a sudden within a month I got married :| . Mom got this proposal.. did all the investigation.. and got me engaged on 3rd April.. and without wasting time mom got me married in 17 days :|

Aaah!, don’t ask about the panic, stress, tension etc etc.., mom just wanted me to get married as soon as possible *it felt like she is tired of me :p*, just after 3rd April all the preparations started taking place..

Contacting cook, decorations, bridal, beauty-parlor and what not!, it was really hard for us to get things done without brothers and father.. I remember at the time of my elder sister’s wedding my dad took care of everything.. and in my case I had to look after from A to Z :)

Since I promised my mom after Salman that am her beta [son], so had to prove myself ;) , it was really hectic for me to act like a bride, to get things done, to take care of mom, in short to take care of everything..

I can’t forget how our neighbors and friends helped us.. from arrangements to my rukhsati they tried their best to make me forget that my brothers and father are not there.. they proved themselves like real brothers :)

I don’t think there have been any bride who would be roaming in the bazaar for things/bridal/etc, talking to cook over phone, talking to decorators etc for her own wedding ;p I even tease my mom for that ;)

It says All’s Well That Ends Well, so in short I no longer can say that am single :p *haye maa.. kyun cheen li azadi* =)

Request for prayers :)

As you all might have known FAiTh celebrated New Year and Quaid-e-Azam anniversary by conducting Blood Drive and Screening Camp.

So its time to announce the results, 25 people decided to attend the event, all of them were tested for Thalassemia, 5 were suspected, 1 has been confirmed as Thalassemia Minor, 16 people donated blood and not to forget all the donors were cleared with diseases like HbsAg, HCV, HIV,VDRL & MP!

Am sure these people would have started New Year with a satisfaction that they are aware of their Thalassemia status! :)

I would like to specially thank PYR Karachi Chapter to be the part of event, to support our cause, in short for everything :)

inshaAllah we will keep conducting such Blood Drives and Screening Camps, if you want to attend, stay tune :)

Thalassemia Awareness & Its Prevention Seminar

FAiTh – Fight Against Thalassemia organized Seminar on “Thalassemia Awareness & Its Prevention” at The Research Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Karachi University on 21st October 2010.

We are highly thankful to Dr. Iqbal Azhar of University of Karachi for giving us a chance to arrange the seminar. Special thanks to our speakers Dr. Tahir Shamsi (Hematologist – National Institute of Blood Disorders), Dr. Waseem and Mr. Muhammad Iqbal (Kashif Iqbal Thalassaemia Care Centre (KITCC)) for sparing their precious time.

As the seminar hall could cater 150 students at a time we decided to do two sessions, so that more students can get benefited by the teachings and we tried our best to stream the seminar live so that our online visitors can also see and learn..

For first session we had Dr. Waseem with topic “What is Thalassemia” and Mr. Iqbal with topic “Thalassemia Prevention”. For second session we had Dr. Tahir Shamsi with topic “What is Thalassemia” and Mr. Iqbal with topic “Thalassemia Prevention”.

Seminar’s first session started at 11:00AM with a welcome note, Quran recitation and then our first speaker Dr. Waseem spoke to the audience about What is Thalassemia?

After Dr. Waseem our next speaker Mr. Iqbal spoke about Thalassemia Prevention. A clip of 7 minutes was also shown to the audience to make them understand more clearly What is Thalassemia and how it can be prevented.

First session came to the end with question answer session.

Second session started at 12:15PM with a welcome note and then audience was mesmerized by our first speaker of second session Dr. Tahir Shamsi, he engaged the whole department in his presentation and audience could understand each and everything about Thalassemia.

Audience wanted to hear more from Dr. Tahir Shamsi but as everything has to end so we had to move towards that same 7 minutes clip and then dice was taken by Mr. Iqbal. Who explained audience how they can prevent our next generation from Thalassemia!

Second session ended at 01:30PM with tremendous response from the faculty and students. We are again thankful to University of Karachi and our speakers, this couldn’t have been possible without you all! Thank you once again!

I have tried to record the whole seminar but due to some problem some of the parts are missing, I apologize for those missing parts.
